This table also contains the expected size of Tesla's battery packs for its future vehicle fleet. The Cybertruck was listed with two of the company’s flagship vehicles, the Model S sedan or Model X SUV. All three vehicles were listed with a 100-kWh battery pack.
The white paper, Tesla's Master Plan Part 3 whitepaper, contains many fascinating details. One of the most interesting sections was a table that detailed the company's vehicle fleet and the estimated sales targets.
This table also contains the expected size of Tesla's battery packs for its future and current vehicle fleet. The Cybertruck was listed with two of the company’s flagship vehicles, the Model S sedan or Model X SUV. All three vehicles were listed with a 100-kWh battery pack.
The EV maker has used a 100 kWh size battery pack since the creation of the Model S, Model X P100 and P100D. However, such a large battery seems surprising conservative for Cybertruck which is a significantly larger (and probably heavier) vehicle.
Despite the Cybertruck nearing completion, Tesla has not provided much information about its battery size. Jerry and other third-party organizations have traditionally used a 100 kWh size for Cybertruck's lower versions, such the Dual Motor AWD and entry-level RWD.
Interestingly enough, Matthew Donegan Ryan (longtime Tesla owner and early investor in TSLA) stated that the electric vehicle manufacturer would no longer be releasing a Cybertruck single-motor model. The base Cybertruck of Tesla may now be its Dual Motor AWD variant. It was previously announced that it has a range up to 300 miles per battery.
A Tesla Cybertruck that can travel more than 300 miles with a 100-kWh battery pack would be quite impressive. Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning are two other electric pickup trucks that can reach more than 300 miles on a 100 kWh battery pack. Rivian's Large Pack (for the R1T) is priced at 135kWh while the Lightning's Extra Range Pack is priced at 131kWh.
The all-electric pickup truck would be one of the most efficient in the segment if Tesla is able to provide the Cybertruck with more than 300 miles of range and a 100 kWh pack. This should give the Cybertruck greater credibility among pickup truck buyers. Some of them may consider range to be a key consideration when purchasing a truck.
