In a blog post, EverCharge expressed its belief that the Combined Charging System (CCS) standard falls short in terms of performance and usability. The company highlighted Tesla's charging system as superior due to its simplicity, user-friendliness, and overall efficiency. EverCharge acknowledged that Tesla's charging port, now referred to as NACS, outperforms CCS by being more compact, powerful, and reliable.
Jason Appelbaum, Founder and CEO of EverCharge, echoed these sentiments on his LinkedIn page, noting that the growing adoption of NACS signifies a shift in the industry's recognition of its superiority. Appelbaum sees the recent decisions by GM and Ford to integrate NACS into their EVs as further validation of its advantages.
While Tesla's NACS gaining support from major American automakers is a significant achievement, it poses challenges for other networks like Electrify America, which currently does not support the standard. With Ford, GM, ABB E-mobility, and now EverCharge embracing NACS, it appears inevitable that the standard will emerge as the dominant charging system in North America in the near future.
